Duratex is a publicly listed private company, with shares traded at the São Paulo Stock Exchange since 1951. It is controlled by the Itaúsa Group – Investimentos Itaú S.A. – the second largest private group in the country, which also comprises Banco Itaú Holding Financeira S.A., Elekeiroz S.A., Itautec S.A. and Itaúsa Empreendimentos.

Manufacturing wood products, sanitary vitreous chinaware and metal fittings aimed at the furniture industry and the civil construction sectors, Duratex has eight industrial plants, seven of which are located in the State of São Paulo, and one in Rio Grande do Sul.

It is Brazilian market leader in the segment of reconstituted wooden boards – hardboards, particle boards, medium, high and super-density fiberboards (MDF/HDF/SDF), as well as laminated floorboards marketed under the Durafloor brand. It is Brazilian market leader in the segment of sanitary metal fittings, under the Deca and Hydra brands (the latter for flush valves), and has a significant market share in the sanitary vitreous chinaware segment, marketed under the Deca brand.

Currently, Duratex has almost seven thousand employees and maintains its business headquarters in São Paulo, in addition to commercial offices in key Brazilian cities. It is also present in Argentina, through Deca Piazza, and in the US and Europe, through Duratex North America and Duratex Europe.

Duratex owns approximately 110 thousand hectares of primarily eucalyptus timberlands, located in the State of São Paulo, which guarantees its strategic supply of wood utilized in the manufacturing process.

The Lençóis Paulista, Botucatu, Itapetininga and Agudos Units, located in the State of São Paulo, were awarded the Green Seal by the Forest Stewardship Council – FSC, and internationally recognized organization which certifies forest management based on preservation and sustainability principles. Also, the management of the forest areas in Botucatu, as well as the seedling-production nursery, is certified by the ISO 14.001 environmental norm.
